Eucharist The Miracle Of Miracles Of Jesus

Give me a body and I will do your will in my body by shedding my blood in atonement for the sins of the people. Therefore in the New Testament Jesus is shedding his own precious blood and this blood in a new covenant that will make you free from all your sins and this is the importance of this great miracle. The miracle of miracles what we today celebrate as the Eucharist is the sacrificial lamb who sheds his blood to make the humanity free from all sins. When we remember the sacrificial blood of Jesus we are also given another aspect of this great mystery.

Jesus is not only the sacrificial lamb shedding the blood in atonement of our sins and purifying us from all our sinfulness but also Jesus remains to be our food that gives us life. That is what he promised already before his last supper years ago. Once the people of Israel were around Jesus, listening to his teachings in a deserted place without food. Jesus had compassion on them and worked a miracle with five loaves of bread and fed more than 5000 people. This incident is narrated in the gospel of John chapter 6 . People were surprised by the miraculous powers of Jesus. Soon after that miracle people who were satisfied by eating the bread were searching for him again and again. Jesus said “you are searching for me because you have eaten the bread to your fill. Don’t be satisfied by only eating but seek for the food that is eternal.” Jewish people were surprised and asked question “what is that food?”. He said “I am the food, my flesh is the food my blood is the drink. This food and this drink gives you eternal life.” He explicitly says that those who eat His flesh and drink His blood will have eternal life and He will raise them up in the last day. Jesus also said “For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me and I in them. Just as the living father sent me and I live because of the father; so whoever eats me will live because of me.” Yes, these words of Jesus are living words. Eating the flesh of Jesus and drinking the blood of Jesus. That is what we have the miracle of miracles the Eucharist, those who participate in this Eucharist, have a share in the body and blood of Jesus and that share is not simply anything like eating ordinary food but it is a participation in the very life of Jesus. These living words of Jesus are enough for us to mediate for a life time. “Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me and I in them.” ¬†This is the way God Immanuel lives with us throughout the day, throughout the night, throughout the history in each and every individuals life and in entire community of the church believers.

It is very interesting to note in the gospel of john 6:57  Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one whoever eats me will also live because of me.

The union between Jesus and the Father is now given to us just as the Father and the Son are together. And Jesus lives by the Father so those of us who share in the body and blood of Jesus live by Him. This is a great mystery that Jesus is sharing with his people those who believe in him. Let us never ever miss an opportunity to part take in this Holy Eucharist.
